Following up my earlier post on the career of Sallie Janes, the memorable guest star of "Who and Where is Antonio Stradivarius?" I checked this page's archives, and was delighted to discover that an enlightening biography of the actress had already been posted on this very page about five years ago by the intrepid Chris Perridas, a frequent contributor to this page. Here's the entirety of Chris' report, which was first posted here on April 28, 2015:

"Responding to Vince’s challenge to find out more about the sometimes mysterious Sallie Janes took quit a bit of digging. Reporters and publicity writers tortured her name as Sallie or Sally Janes or Jones, but here is what I was able to find.

"Sallie Smaines Janes was born in Los Angeles in 1932. As a young teenager, she was noticed to have exceptional singing ability while she performed in a school play. Her family obtained classical training for her. Graduating from a Pasadena high school at age 16, she moved with her family to the San Francisco area, specifically Santa Cruz. There she joined an oratorical society and continued her musical and voice training.

"In the mid-to-late 1950s, Sallie decided to perform and sing in more pedestrian venues, often working with comics. This somehow led to an MGM appearance in the Vincent Minnelli [film] 'Bells Are Ringing' (1960) and, as Vince mentioned, an appearance in the MGM feature 'Please Don't Eat the Daisies.' She next went to Warner Brothers television and appeared on an episode of then-popular 'Surfside 6' show entitled 'Anniversary Special' (which first aired 29 January 1962). At about this same time, she did a voiceover for the Warner Brothers series 'Top Cat,' in the episode titled 'The Golden Fleecing' (which first aired 7 Feb 1962), as the Marilyn Monroe-esque singing character, Honeydew Mellon.
