    David Oswald Nelson (October 24, – January 11, ) was an American actor. He was the older brother of musician Ricky Nelson.

    Early life

    Nelson was born October 24, , in New York City, the elder son of entertainment couple Harriet Hilliard Nelson and Ozzie Nelson. His younger brother was singer Ricky Nelson. In late , Nelson moved with his parents from Tenafly, New Jersey, to Los Angeles, California.

    He attended Hollywood High School, balancing his studies, playing on the football team and his TV work. He later attended the University of Southern California and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

    Nelson's acting career started in when he and his brother began playing themselves on their parents' radio series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, which lasted until His film debut came in Here Come the Nelsons, released in

    From the s through Nelson had roles in Smash-Up on Interstate 5, Up In Smoke, The Love Boat, High School U.S.A., and A Family for Joe. Nelson's last film appearance was in the film Cry-Baby.

    Nelson directed episodes of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, O.K. Crackerby!, Ozzie's Girls and Goodnight, Beantown. He directed several films, including Childish Things, Death Screams and Last Plane Out.

    David Alan Nelson (born November 7, ) is a former American footballwide receiver. He played college football for the University of Florida, where he was a member of two BCS National Championship teams. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in , and also played for the New York Jets.

    Early life

    Nelson was born in Wichita Falls, Texas in He began his high school career at 1A Petrolia High School, winning the Texas 1A State Championship. Beginning his junior year, he attended S. H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls, where he played for the Rider Raiders high school football team. As a senior, Nelson was team captain and had ninety-one receptions for 1, yards and eighteen touchdowns.

    College career

    Nelson accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he played for coach Urban Meyer's Florida Gators football team from to The Gators coaching staff elected to redshirt Nelson as a true freshman in During his time as a Gator, the team won two SEC Championship Games (, ) and two BCS National Championship Games (, ). The highlight of his senior season was a four-reception day for fifty-three yards against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game. During his four-season college career, Nelson played in forty-four games, started fourteen, and made forty-six receptions for yards (a yard average) and seven touchdowns. Nelson was the recipient of quarterback Tim Tebow's "jump pass" in the BCS National Championship Game which cemented the Gators' 24–14 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners.
