2023 television series
UnPrisoned is a comedy-drama television series created by Tracy McMillan, starring Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo. The series is produced by Onyx Collective. It premiered on Hulu on March 10, 2023.UnPrisoned received generally positive reviews from critics. In November 2023, it was renewed for a second season that premiered on July 17, 2024. In September 2024, the series was cancelled after two seasons.

- Kerry Washington as Paige Alexander, a marriage and family therapist with a large Instagram following. Despite her vocation, she struggles with her personal relationships. Due to her father's frequent imprisonment, she was in and out of various foster homes. She lived with her father's girlfriend Nadine from ages 8–18. She often imagines herself interacting with her "inner child" during stressful situations. Jordyn McIntosh plays young Paige.
- Delroy Lindo as Edwin Alexander, Paige's father who has been imprisoned for the past 17 years. He wants to reconcile with his daughter and make a life for himself on the outside. He is a good cook, but struggles to find employment due to his status as an ex-felon. He is a huge flirt and quite successful with the ladies.
- Marque Richardson as Mal, Edwin's case worker. He becomes Paige's boyfriend for several episodes until she ends the relationship.
- Faly Rakotohavana as Finneas "Finn" Alexander, Paige's teenage son. He is biracial and his father is not in his life. He's an introverted gamer with an interest in card games. He bonds with his grandfather despite his mother's objections.
- Jee Young Han as Esti Nelson, Paige's foster sister from Pastor and Mrs. Nelson's home. She has a sassy "tell it like it is" personality and is often Paige's sounding board. She had been married and divorced three times.

NAACP Image Awards: Ayo Edebiri, Taraji P. Henson, Samuel L. Jackson, Keke Palmer Among Night One Non-Televised Winners
The first of the 2025 NAACP Image Awards’ winners were presented in a virtual, non-televised ceremony on Tuesday night.
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, which scored nine nominations, won two awards on Tuesday — best supporting actress for Taraji P. Henson and best supporting actor for Samuel L. Jackson. Children’s show Gracie’s Corner also won two awards.
Other notable winners announced Tuesday include Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, which won for outstanding variety (series or special); The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri, who won for outstanding breakthrough creative (TV); The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat director Tina Mabry, who won for best directing in a TV movie or special; How to Die Alone‘s Tiffany Johnson, who won for best directing in a comedy series, with the award coming just two weeks after Hulu canceled the series following its first season; and Keke Palmer, who won for hosting Password.
More non-televised winners will be announced on Wednesday night ahead of the Creative Honors on Friday. The televised 2025 NAACP Image Awards ceremony will air on BET and CBS at 8 p.m. Saturday from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Dave Chappelle, former Vice President Kamala Harris and the Wayans family are among this year’s honorees.
The awards will also support the Altadena, Pacific Palisades and Pasadena communities affected by the recent L.A. wildfires. The NAACP, BET Media Group, WME and Johnson Shapiro Slewett and Kole (JSSK) have partnered with L.A. County and — in collaboration with organizations like Community Aid Dena, Altadena Heritage and WalkGood LA — launched the Altadena Community Preservation Fund, designed to protect homeowners from displacement and preserve the community’s cultural heritage.

Tonight, the NAACP kicked off night one of the 56th NAACP Image Awards Pre-Awards Show, announcing the first round of winners in the non-televised award categories. The two-night virtual event aired exclusively on the NAACP Image Awards YouTube channel–inviting NAACP Image Awards fans to experience two nights of culture, comedy, and celebrating Black achievement and excellence.

NAACP announced the full list of “56thNAACP Image Awards” nominees, with Cynthia Erivo, Keke Palmer, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart, and Shannon Sharpe nominated for Entertainer of the Year. The winners will be revealed Friday, February 21, 2025, at the 56th NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors Ceremonies on naacpimageawards.net and during the two-hour LIVE TV special, airing Saturday, February 22, 2025, from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, at 8 PM ET/ 8 PM PT on BET and CBS- 7 PM CT on CBS Lake Charles. Ayo Edebiri is leading the television and streaming categories with four nominations – three for her role in The Bear and one for Saturday Night Live. Keke Palmer earned four total nominations, including Entertainer of the Year, recognition for her role in Password, her performance in The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy and her podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer.
GloRilla received the most nominations in the music recording categories, earning six nominations followed closely by Doechii, Kendrick Lamar and Usher, earning four nods respectively.
