Brantley Gilbert Will Play the Delaware County Fair This Summer!

There are several country stars that straddle the line between country music and rock. But perhaps no one does it better than Brantley Gilbert. Want proof? Last year he opened shows for the rock group Nickelback, and the year before he was an opening act for Five Finger Death Punch! Brantley is about to bring his high-energy country/rock show back to Eastern Iowa!

Brantley Gilbert burst onto the country scene in 2010 with his debut album Halfway to Heaven. The project would go on to land Brantley his first two number-one hit songs at country radio. The singles 'Country Must Be Country Wide' and 'You Don't Know Her Like I Do' both topped the charts.

Gilbert was on his way to a hit-making country career. Songs like 'Bottoms Up', 'Small Town Throwdown', 'One Hell of an Amen', and 'Stone Cold Sober' rocketed up the charts and made Brantley a must-see live act in country music.

Brantley Gilbert is bringing all his hit songs to the Delaware County Fair in Manchester this summer! Gilbert will rock the fair on Friday, July 12th. Tickets will go on sale this Saturday, March 9th at the DelawareCountyFair.com.

So. The official country music douche Brantley Gilbert has himself a #1 song in the form of “Country Must Be Country Wide.” Our enemy has a new face friends and neighbors, and that face has a penciled-on beard and hoop earrings.

This day was inevitable. As one of the co-writers of Jason Aldean’s country rap super hit “Dirt Road Anthem,” a song that has sold more copies than any other in 2011, it was just a matter of time before Music Row tried to re-create that magic with Brantley himself. After all, he’s just so pretty. Gilbert, his rising fame, and this song’s success are due in large part to the blurring of genre lines between popular music. His medium is the mono-genre, which is illustrated many ways in “Country Must Be Country Wide.”

It starts off with an electronic drum beat, and when he says the opening line of “Go ahead and crank this one up,” it’s hard to tell if he aping a country accent, or an urban accent. The only thing for sure is that the accent is a put on. Check it out:

Oh wait, wrong video. 🙁 Honest mistake.

Boiled down, what you have here is a song stamped out of the typical laundry list country song formula with a few unique wrinkles. The most-obvious criticism is that Brantley sings about how “in every state there’s a station playing Cash, Hank, Willie & Waylon” when the idea finding these folks on country radio is quite laughable, hence the existence of sites like this one. So as a vehicle for Outlaw name-dropping like many country checklist songs do, this line fails, and fails hard. But try pulling that line off with “Flatts, Swift, Perry & Antebellum”–artists country radio actually does play. Yeah, not very catchy.

Most confusing is the message of this song. In one breath he’s talking about Copenhagen, boots, Wranglers, 4-wheel drives

“So last night might have been the craziest night of my life. Watching such an amazing woman do such an amazing thing is something I’ll never forget,” he wrote. “Thank you to our road family for rallying around us, Brittany Thornton for helping us bring this little dude into the world, Tupelo, Mississippi for showing us mad love and support, and most of all… Amber Gilbert, for letting me love you and showing me EXACTLY how incredibly strong a woman can be. I love you.”

The “Tattoos” singer had just started his set when he received word that his wife was in labor. He’s seen running to be by her side as she was giving birth inside the tour bus.

The video shows the bundle of joy as Gilbert is on the phone with his mother to tell her the good news.

“You got a new grandbaby,” he tells her.

The singer goes on to call his wife “a freaking savage.”

After sharing the good news, Gilbert returned to the stage to finish the show.

“We got a baby,” he tells his fans, who roared in response.
