  • Wet (band)

    American indie pop band

Wet is an American indie pop group from Brooklyn, New York. The band's first two albums—the 2013 self-titled EP and 2016 Don't You—are credited to Kelly Zutrau, Joe Valle, and Marty Sulkow. In March 2018, Wet released a single, "There's a Reason", as a duo of Zutrau and Valle. Signed to Columbia Records, Wet was named the most promising group in music by The Fader in 2015.

    History

Members Kelly Zutrau, Joe Valle, and Marty Sulkow met in New York through mutual friends while Sulkow and Valle were attending New York University and Zutrau was a student at Cooper Union. Sulkow and Zutrau formed a band called Beauty Feast in 2007. It grew to seven members but eventually dissolved. Zutrau went on to the Rhode Island School of Design, but continued to write music. Sulkow and Valle became involved with her work and in 2012 the group moved in together in Sulkow's apartment in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

    Neon Gold and Wet

The group began booking gigs around Brooklyn and posting music online, gaining attention around 2013. Wet signed with the boutique record label Neon Gold during that same year. Neon Gold had a partnership with Columbia Records at the time Wet signed with them. The label switched its partnership to Atlantic Records in 2014 and Wet subsequently signed with Columbia after fielding offers from numerous major labels. On September 24, Neon Gold announced that Wet would be releasing a self-titled extended play. It was released on October 3 and October 15 on the band's Bandcamp page.

    Don't You

The group moved to Western Massachusetts in 2014 where they began working on their debut album under Columbia. The album, titled Don't You, was released on January 29, 2016. It reached number 76 on the Billboard 200 and number 55 on the Can

    Wet Wet Wet

    Scottish soft rock band

Wet Wet Wet is a Scottish soft rock band formed in 1982. They scored a number of hits on the UK charts and around the world in the 1980s and 1990s. They are best known for their 1994 cover of the Troggs' 1960s hit "Love Is All Around", which was used on the soundtrack to the film Four Weddings and a Funeral. The song was an international success, and spent 15 weeks at the top the UK Singles Chart. The band is currently composed of founding member Graeme Clark (bass, vocals) and lead vocalist Kevin Simm, who replaced founding member Marti Pellow in 2018 after he left during the previous year. Graeme Duffin (lead guitar, vocals) has also been with the band as a touring musician since 1983. The band were named Best British Newcomer at the 1988 Brit Awards.

    History

    Formation and early years: 1982–1987

The quartet formed at Clydebank High School in Clydebank, Scotland, in 1982, under the name "Vortex Motion", mostly playing covers of The Clash and Magazine. "It was either crime, the dole, football, or music — and we chose music," said Tommy Cunningham. The original line-up consisted of Neil Mitchell (keyboards), Tommy Cunningham (drums), Graeme Clark (bass), Mark McLachlan (a.k.a. Marti Pellow) (vocals) and Lindsey McCauley (guitar).

"At the time it was Duran Duran, Talk Talk – double-barrelled names; we just added on another to confuse people. And we would look outside and see the rain coming down. It did seem quite relevant to Glasgow."

—Graeme Clark on how the band chose their name, March 1987

Clark and Cunningham met on the school bus and became close friends. Mutual friend Neil Mitchell, prompted by his pals' positive attitude, promised to supply keyboards when he could scrape together enough money from his paper round. To complete the quartet, Clark approached Mark McLachlan, who at the time was training to be a painter and decorator. He said, "At break we all went behind t

    W.E.T. – Retransmission – Album Review

    Artist: W.E.T.

    Album Title: Retransmission

    Label: Frontiers Music

Date of Release: 22 January 2021

A little under three years since the release of their critically-acclaimed third release, ‘Earthrage’, the melodic hard rock ‘supergroup’ W.E.T. return with album number four, ‘Retransmission’. And, as you all know, given my soft spot for a dose of melodic hard rock, it was inevitable that this record would be centre of my radar. After all, as I’ve stated many times before, these guys are at the very top of the pile when it comes to this kind of music.

I’m sure you all know the history of the band by now. But in case you are unfamiliar, W.E.T. is comprised of Work of Art keyboardist Robert Säll (W), Eclipse guitarist Erik Mårtensson (E) and Talisman vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (T). Together, W.E.T. was born. The band is then rounded out by lead guitarist Magnus Henriksson, bassist Andreas Passmark, and drummer Robban Bäck. Since their debut release back in 20xx, they have consistently (if perhaps a little slowly) released incredibly high quality music.

And it is pleasing to report that it is business as usual with ‘Retransmission’; W.E.T. are clearly a band that are incapable of releasing sub-par music.

The album kicks off in typical authoritative style with the lead single, ‘Big Boys Don’t Cry’. It comes out of the blocks throwing punches in the form of big, meaty riffs and a strong groove. Soto picks up where he left off last time with another timeless vocal performance, effortlessly charismatic, and full of power, belting out the lyrics with passion. The chorus is a little surprising in that it is softer than the verses, very AOR-driven, complete with acoustic guitars and vocal hooks to die for. You get the obligatory wailing lead guitar histrionics towards the end of what is a cracking opening salvo.

‘Moment Of Truth’ keeps up the intensity perfectly. After the briefest of moody synth intros, t

International powerhouse rock group W.E.T. are pleased to announce the release of their highly anticipated new studio album, “Apex”, set for release on March 28th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.

“Apex”, the fifth studio album of the melodic supergroup, is a bold statement in the band's confidence that they have delivered their best work to date. Eleven tracks full of big choruses and hooky melodies, all served on a platter of smooth heaviness.

The acronym W.E.T. comes from the members’ association with other bands, Robert Säll & Andreas Passmark from Work of Art, Erik Mårtensson & Magnus Henriksson from Eclipse and Jeff Scott Soto from Talisman. And now, for the first time ever, the T is emphasized as Talisman drummer Jamie Borger has joined forces with the band’s original core members.

W.E.T. truly epitomizes what melodic rock has become in the new decade. The key element at the foundation of W.E.T. has always been to create a modern melodic hard rock sound that will drive the genre into the future. Combining powerhouse rhythms and top-notch production (courtesy of Erik Martensson), the music is equally classic and contemporary.

Although a side project to the members’ original bands, over the course of the band’s existence, W.E.T. have reconvened regularly over the last 15 years to produce four studio albums and a live record.

Starting with a genre-defining self-titled debut, Robert Säll (the “W” from Work of Art), Erik Mårtensson (the “E” from Eclipse), and Jeff Scott Soto (the “T” from Talisman) accepted the daunting task to give that debut a follow-up, “Rise Up”. After that stellar follow-up, their third opus, “Earthrage”, cemented a legacy of music which will stand the test of time. “Retransmission”, their latest album, is nothing else than an absolute milestone, which is well in keeping with the tradition established by the three amazing records that have preceded this one.

Erik Mårtensson says: “It’s always a challenge to
